We will always be ruled by Thugs

By definition, those who enter politics are almost invariably extroverted, confident and determined. They have a vision of the world and they are dedicated to foisting it on you. You will be part of their narrative, regardless of whether you want to be or not. They seek power and adulation. They have a 'positive' vision. They are all pro-family and pro-life.

Pessimists, antinatalists and generally those in any way sensitive are generally introverted, solitary and disgusted by the world. Like the wise snail, they seek to curl up in their sanctuary and be left undisturbed. Sensitive people do not wish to expose themselves to the mob. They do not wish to 'compete', to prostitute themselves, to endure the demeaning gaze of the public eye. Bar their impotent fantasies of world annihilation or world sterilisation they do not seek power.

Thus it is almost an iron law that Assholes will always rule. Another good reason to be a pessimist.

  2. Wow, totally agree. Great insights. I've recently come to the conclusion that I am an antinatalist. I think I always have been, but couldn't really describe why. Thanks for this blog and allowing subversive views and opinions to be heard.

  3. Brief and to the point. A near perfect summation of the pessimist view, a view that can only be understood by another pessimist.

  4. Although the ruling class will always be composed of annoying extroverts, the lone individual can still subvert the establishment. The solitary introvert will always find a way to conspire against the powers that be. The gregarious leader will always want to govern by consensus, and a lonely dissenter often tends to demoralize the elite by his very presence.

  7. Señor Karl,
What can we,who are in horror of life, do against these thugs? As time goes by hiding is becoming more and more difficult. Raul

  8. Speaking of introverts and extroverts...The best very short explanation I've heard of the difference between the two is that extroverts are energized by interaction with others while introverts are drained by it. Sounds about right to me. A holiday family gathering wears me out more than a few hours of raking leaves.

  11. You're welcome, Karl. Even though I don't comment very often, sometimes because there's nothing to add, I read and enjoy all your posts very much!

  12. I experience the almost unreal blur of the faceless mass everyday, and honestly I do not feel one bit of camaraderie with these people. They're just human animals who happen to exist around me.
Cioran said that the task of the solitary man is to become even more solitary. I must become an invisible man, living like a ghost, live in my own underground world where people cannot find me, erase as many traces of my existence as I can. And I must become as self-sufficient as possible by reducing my needs to an absolute minimum.

    1. You hit the nail on the head, with living a simple life. The great sages have always known this.

  13. Power not only corrupts, it attracts the corrupted or corruptible. Always has, always will. We humans tend towards hierarchical power structures for all sorts of reasons, so it's easy for me to humanity as a sado/masochistic species (and not only humans, of course). Instinctively, we all play our part.

The worst of it is some of us can see it for what it is, but have to play our parts anyway. We're all trapped.

  15. on reading that book on boredom that i think is relevant to pessimism etc i am reminded of the following quote which puts a kind of depressing self absorbed spin on the act of reading itself." Every reader, as he reads, is actually the reader of himself. The writer's work is only a kind of optical instrument he provides the reader so he can discern what he might never have seen in himself without this book. The reader's recognition in himself of what the book says is the proof of the book's truth. MP
ps thanks for letting me litter your blog

  16. My primary feeling of being in this world is horror and repulsion, my secondary feeling is devastating boredom. Like another commenter said, I like to spend as much time as possible sleeping because this world is not an enjoyable world to be a part of. When I am awake I am living in a fantasy life inside my head. As my body performs its various necessary tasks, my brain escapes into a fantasy world, not for a few minutes, but all day long. This cannot be healthy, but it's all I have to enjoy, as I take no pleasure in the cold reality of this world. In fantasy I can look and act however I want to, and I can provide myself with friends and enemies. I like fairies and sirens and mythological creatures. I like "Lord of the Rings" type fantasy adventures. I envy those characters because they had an exciting mission and purpose in their life. My reality is one mundane unglorious task after another until I'm dead. The only life that I can enjoy is the one I create in my own mind. I create imaginary friends and adventures for myself. And I'm a middle aged person! I wonder how many other people do this. It's a double-edged sword. Fantasy gets me through my miserable daily existance but the inability to actually live out my fantasies worsens my depression.

  17. This is only half right, since the west is ruled by leftists, and leftists are anti-family. Muslims are pro-family, with an average of 10 kids per woman. But yeah, politicians aren't introverted, they wouldn't be able to survive this rat race otherwise.

Some great reactionaries as antidote to the current anti-culture politics by Merkel and co.:
Everything by Juan Donos Cortes, Nicholas Gomez Davila and Edmund Burke; also check out Friedrich Gentz -- a huge genius!

    1. My old pal, it certainly looks like you have become one of the most devoted raiders of my blog – and I am oh-so appreciative. I am sure that a bloke like you comes to my blog because you enjoy a blunt discussion of the inevitability of violence in all human interaction. The blog, incidentally, does not advocate – it describes.

You know, Giordano Mirandolla, back in my day, if a couple fellows have an issue with something uttered, they took it outside. Back in my time, keeping disputes in the proper place was a matter of good manners. If you have a problem with something said on my blog, come take it up with me on my blog. A gentleman takes to the source – and doesn’t gossip behind an individual’s back. Only a pansy goes sneaking around – and I’m sure you wouldn’t want anyone to think that.

      And, hey, Merry Christmas, friend.

    3. To the Giordano Mirandolla above: you are the 'bereaved parent' author of the letter in question, aren't you?
You just could not keep away from the blog you trolled in order to see the effect of your very obviously phony, lame handiwork.
I know your type very well from experience: the projection of your own personality type (self-obsessed) onto another is another very well-known -classic- trait of narcissists in the field of psychology.

DARVO - acronym for Deny Attack Reverse Victim Obstruct the telling of truth is also very well-known: the typical behaviour of a Narcissist-Psychopath-Sadist-Pathological Liar when caught out in lies. And I caught you, didn't I? You are freaking out- lashing out in anger- just as I've seen in the past from others such as you.

Note well my "self-obsessed idiot" comment. "Self-obsessed idiot" that I am I offered specific information on the Dark Triad-Driad of personalities which anyone who wishes to research for themselves can now do.

"Self-obsessed idiot" that I am, I wrote my initial comment in this post to inform anyone who wishes to learn how to protect themselves from liars/narcissists/psychopaths and other controlling personality types.

      This 'self-obsessed idiot" offered information.

What have you offered except for a shoot the messenger ad hominem attack at a person you term a "self-obsessed idiot"...MENSA IQ "idiot" since childhood, MENSA IQ "pattern recognizing" intelligence which I am extremely grateful for because that childhood ability to parse suspect personalities kept me alive.

Why am I an anti-natalist who refuses Pollyanna glasses to view the world? Because this "self-obsessed idiot" noticed from childhood that the world was not filled with Tra-La-La tip-toe-through-the-tulips beauty, goodness and light.

Despite that knowledge, this "self-obsessed idiot" did not become bitter with the world or hateful. However, I very much despise those who attempt to use others as fools or credulous.
I call out lies and liars when I see them.

I called out you, Mr.Phoney Bereaved Parent.

Please continue with the ad hominems. This "self-obsessed idiot" is used to them. I have been called very much worse by a serial killer I used to know.

  20. Speaking for myself, my pessimism has made me a more easygoing and ethical person. For instance, I don't believe I could have made the transition to veganism without my pessimism.

At the end of the day, I feel life is too short/hard to hold onto hatreds and grudges.

  24. Look at and understand the Dunning-Kruger effect. That explains things. The first step in being a better person is objectively realising how little you actually know about *everything* - it is actually liberating! This lesson should be taught in schools. Obviously a person who feels that they should be in charge exposes their lack of self awareness almost immediately, they are flying by sheer force of ego, which never ends well for someone. They are the people who believe that science will save us? Remember the Dunning-Kruger effect.
